Reminder for Parents!

We are looking forward to starting our Heritage Project! Please help us by completing the brief survey that went home in backpack mail.

Students will be creating Heritage Books. It is our hope that Heritage Book pages, at minimum, will include:
  • A biography page with several pictures of your child through the years
  • A family tree - A Heritage family tree, mapping the country of origin of ancestors
  • Maps and pictures of places relevant to family heritage
  • A narrative of ancestors’ arrival in United States (if known)
  • Interviews with family members
  • Pages describing life in America during time of parents and grandparents
  •  Family artifact page/s with drawings or pictures of relevant family objects
  • In Memoriam pages
  • A creation of a family crest
Students are also encouraged to create several additional unique pages of their choosing. Please begin helping your child compile materials.

Thanks for your help!

Dried Apple Ring Fever!

It all started with a bizarre math story problem. Zach was making a popcorn snack. But he decided to add dried apple rings to the mix. As we worked through the problem, it was difficult not to laugh about the flavor combination! So the next time we encountered the problem, we used math manipulatives: dried apple rings and popcorn (Thanks, Kamilla!)...

Nobody really enjoyed the dried apple rings. But now I had a 5 lb bag of them. So I hydrated them and spiced them up with some cloves and a real vanilla bean.
Some were brave enough to try them again but... apple tart is not the most kid-friendly of sweet treats. Oh well! I will find a way to use the rest of the enormous bag soon.
